Cruising Day Three

Today we decided to check out the main dining room for breakfast.  This restaurant required a 'dress code' as opposed to just going to the buffet.  It was good but it was the only time we ate here for breakfast.  Most mornings we were heading to port so we didn't have time for a sit down breakfast.

It took me a while to figure out why so many people were wearing green and then I got smart....St. Patrick's Day!

 

 We were heading for a kitchen tour after breakfast but had some time before that began so we just walking around in the warm sunshine.  As we sailed further south the weather just got nicer and nicer!

 

 Happy and relaxed.  Having no set itinerary and just doing what we liked and when we liked was such a treat.

 We mustered at the main dining room for the beginning of the kitchen tour.  We were given a glass of champagne.  How indulgent to drink before noon!

The tour was very interesting and we were able to walk through the main kitchen (there are 12 on board!) and see some crew in action. 

 

After the tour we decided to spend the afternoon sunbathing and doing a whole lotta nothing.  We found a nice spot at the very front of the ship that was great....warm with a lovely breeze.  We treated ourselves to an unhealthy lunch from the poolside grill.  Hotdog for me and hamburger for Keith.  Yum! 

 Later in the afternoon a cloud cover send us inside so we got ready for dinner.

 

 

 

 These are some of the tenders that are used when the ship cannot dock at a smaller port.  We never had to use one as all of our ports were accessible to our ship.

 Dinner was fabulous!  Always started with lovely fresh bread and bread sticks.  Then the appies, then soup and/or salad, the main course and dessert.  Tonight Keith had shaved tuna he said melted on the tongue.  He loved it. 

 My main dish was pan seared trout.  There are mashed potatoes in the middle of the trout.  It was out of this world delicious!

 Keith had a seafood risotto that he really enjoyed.

 I had Crepes Suzette for the very first time.  Tasty.  Actually these 'crepes' tasted just like my mom's German pancakes.

 I asked Keith to order Panna Cotta for his dessert as I had no idea what is was.  He's such a good sport.  It was a very bland sort of custard.  He said it was 'ok'. 

We knew that we'd be in port tomorrow so we headed up to bed right after dinner.  Really healthy for the digestive system.  Actually we could never really keep our eyes open by that time of night.  Those seniors could really stay up late!  I bet we were the first to sleep every night.
