Pioneer Spirit

We are fortunate enough to live in a city but actually situated on the edge of the city. It's nice to be away from the hustle and bustle of the main drag and enjoy mountain views. The raccoons are another story!
A few blocks from our house is a fabulous blackberry patch. It's far enough away from the road so one does not need to worry about exhaust on the fruit. Next to the black berry patch is ahuge wild apple tree. We walked over there this morning and picked both berries and apples....all with the intent of making a delicious crisp for dessert tonight.

Somethings seem to be genetic. I remember getting free wild things to supplement our family diet. Just some of the joys of summer ! Way to go !

Hand picked and hand made! It doesn't get better than that! I'm drooling.

Yum! Our driveway is full of blackberries :) We've already made a pie, but I think crisp will be next on the menu.
