A Lovely Sort of Friday

I rarely get Fridays off. Somehow I seem to always be scheduled to work. It works out well since it's Keith's day off and that's one day we don't have to deal with daycare for the kids. But I was off today and what a treat! After dropping off the kids at school, K and I had a quick breakfast at Timmy's and then ran to the lab so K could give up some blood. He's had some vaccinations for work and they need to see if they 'took'. After that we hit our favorite store...'Home Sense'. Perfect for a house with bare walls and owners on a budget! I love it when K comes with me as he has a great eye for ideas and patience to dig thru their often very full shelves. This was our 'find' today!

And then to hang it up! Thank you Keith! Now, just to do something with that hideous drapery. Any economical suggestions????

It's a chilly night and I've been settling down in front of the fireplace with a cup of herbal tea and a book. Not an exciting Friday night to many but I could not be more content!

I like your new purchase! That is the perfect spot for it!!

as for window treatments, sorry I have no inexpensive solution. I have heard that the big hardware stores offer cheaper blinds than custom, but I don't know the cost.

Friday nights are overrated! A good cuppa tea and a good book~~so comforting!

Ikea! That is my answer to window treatments!

That is beautiful! I love stuff like that. Looks great with your decor!
Sounds like a great Friday night to me! :)
hmmm, I have no window treatment ideas. They were always a source of pain in our last place and I have done nothing to dress up what we have hear. Sorry. Ikea does sound like a good option though!

I suggest Home Depot for faux 2" blinds... would really look great with your new furniture and the look you have pulled together so well! ....and ya, drapery panels at Ikea can't be beat!!!!

Mom says check out the new tall grasses that just arrived at The Silk Tree. Not for window treatments, you ninny!

Thanks for the Ikea suggestion Shari! I will look into that. We don't want to get blinds for the front window as there already is roll down pleated shades that are in good condition. It's a north-facing window so we don't need to block out any sun.

I love your new purchase. It looks awesome there. I have not been to Home Sense in a long time, you inspire me to go look.

Rachel that new purchase looks unreal! Wow! Homesense really does have great stuff. Most of our main bathroom decor is from there. Can I say decor for a bathroom???? Anyways, looks great!

My suggestion is to go to the fabric place by Ikea (Kori will know the name) and pick up some fabric and ask your ever handy mom to sew you some new decorative curtains! Not the pull across kind, but the kind Kori used to have in the living room. Just have a bank of fabric on the side of the window with a nice black curtain rod across the top!! I have the lovely curtain rod but have yet to find fabric :( Maybe us gals could go on a fabric run one of these days??

Love your new piece of wrought-iron art...I have several pieces in my house from HomeSense as well! I've never gotten around to doing all the window treatments in my house either, a definite project for the new year! Blog all about it when you find something!

Window treatments are the bane of my existence. Why does it have to be so difficult/expensive?

The wrought iron is wonderful though. I'm a fan myself.

I actually gasped when your page loaded up - the iron thingy is beautiful! That's another bare wall taken care of. :)

And I can't imagine a better way to spend a quiet evening than with a book and a mug of tea.

I'm with many of the girls...there is truly nothing better than a cup of herbal tea and a good book...it beats most nights out hands down! Except for those nights spent in the company of great girlfriends good nibblies and even better conversation!!!
