A Reluctant Soccer Player

Chad plays soccer each week. Chad doesn't LOVE soccer. Chad doesn't LOVE anything that requires moving his body in a quick motion! It's always been the case. Chad peters out from work or tasks quite quickly. He loses motivation and it just becomes painful for everyone involved. After almost 10 years of knowing this kid I've positive it's nature NOT nuture. This will most likely be Chad's last year of soccer. There is no point for Keith and I to be paying the fees and spending a load of time on the pitch for something Chad doesn't really enjoy. What I have told Chad is that he must find some alternative activity. It just won't do to have a child play Lego in his room 24/7 as he would be happy to do! What activities or programs do your kids enjoy? Perhaps we'll be inspired!

At least the boys play at a really nice field with beautiful views. That's been great.
I think we might have a soccer player in Liam. He just loves dribbling that ball around and shooting nets!

Go Liam!
Ethan didn't love soccer either.
We've been doing basketball and it's been REALLY good so far. They actually learn real skills, it's warm and dry, it's only one night a week and the fees are resonable.
There's my 2 bits.

Our girls have never been into team sports but they did both play one season of basketball back in elementary and really enjoyed it.

Our boys were not ever in sports growing up. For them it was lego 24/7.
Now the one son plays soccer everyday with his employees at lunch.
We often wondered if we had gotten it wrong. . .but stopped fussing about it. They had their trampoline and school activities and that seemed to suit them just fine.

we went from soccer to curling. I was pleasantly surprised at how cheap curling is. here it goes from October to March and is only $80 and runs from 60-90minutes once/week.

our younger two are more into sports than the older two. oldest would rather play Lego(even at almost 16) and #2 is happy anywhere he has a book lol.

Friday night basketball is also a good one!

Is it necessary to force the team sports thing? I personally don't see anything wrong with him sitting in his room playing with Lego all the time. He's got an engineering mind! You could just throw some of his Lego out into the backyard and tell him to go pick it all up. That would count as getting fresh air! lol
